Bocce Courts in Downtown

Written by John Valentine

Talk about a unique project in Downtown. The Troiani Group is working on one of the more interesting projects. It’s not an office building or an apartment building or some kind of mixed-use project. No. It’s bocce courts.

Michael Troiani is moving forward with a plan for his family’s 26,000 square foot property on Market Street and First Avenue.

According to Troiani, there will be four bocce courts. The courts will be lined with honey locust trees, and lighting will be installed to allow for play at night. Troiani told the Pittsburgh Planning Commission that the public will be able to use the courts through a paid reservation system and that he also hopes to garner interest from formal bocce leagues.

The project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025.
