If you are looking for specialty coffee or tea, delicious food and pastries, or cozy places to work remotely, here is a list of the Downtown Neighbor Alliance’s favorite coffee shops in Downtown Pittsburgh.
Yinz Coffee serves hot and cold drinks, pastries, YINZ merchandise, and other Pittsburgh-made products in their shops. They even have Pittsburgh’s Fancypants Popcorn which makes a variety of popcorn flavors like Garlic Parmesan and Plocki Pickle. Their first location was opened in 2021 on Pittsburgh’s North Side and they have since expanded to eight locations around the Pittsburgh area.
Gasoline Street Coffee Company is tucked under the Liberty Bridge and their mission statement is “to build community, one cup at a time”. The coffee shop has an industrial, retro vibe that makes you want to hangout and explore their countless nostalgic pieces. They serve a variety of espresso beverages, signature drinks, and local pastries.
Bae Bae’s Cafe is a Korean inspired cafe and they have an adjacent restaurant called Bae Bae’s Kitchen. The cafe focuses on local, healthy, and organic ingredients, serving a variety of specialty food and espresso drinks. Their fun and whimsical atmosphere will pull you right in!
La Prima Espresso Corporation was founded by Sam Patti in 1998 in the heart of the Strip District in Downtown Pittsburgh. It is a must-stop in Pittsburgh as many visitors say that a trip to La Prima is like a little trip to Italy. At their local roaster Torrefazione La Prima, they roast over 20 varieties of coffee to order.
Nicholas Coffee & Tea Co. has been making fresh-roasted, specialty coffee since 1919. Their historic store in Pitttsburgh’s Market Square has been serving loyal customers with their small batches of 100% Arabica coffee for generations. Even if you do not want caffeine they offer a large variety of coffee with 98% caffeine removed while keeping all the flavor. Their shop sells a large assortment of seasonal coffees, teas, and Nicholas Coffee merchandise.
The Coffee Village grew out of professionals’ shared vision to create a place that serves the community around them. Their slogan is “DRINK. EAT. GATHER. CONNECT”, which shows their commitment to connecting people to the Pittsburgh community. They serve a variety of espresso drinks, coffee, and teas in their shops alongside whole coffee beans in flavors like Cinnamon Danish and Snickerdoodle.
