DNA Welcomes New Businesses to Join Pittsburgh’s Growing Downtown Community

Written by Christine Julia Dingzon

The Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) is excited to announce new opportunities for businesses looking to become a part of Pittsburgh’s vibrant downtown community. With a focus on enhancing the neighborhood through strategic retail recruitment, DNA is inviting new businesses to contribute to the energy and appeal of Downtown Pittsburgh.

In partnership with Allegheny County, DNA has made significant progress in attracting and supporting local businesses. In 2023, DNA proudly helped 23 new businesses open their doors, with an additional 8 new openings so far in 2024. This growth reflects DNA’s commitment to revitalizing empty storefronts, which have decreased from 76 to 46 since the launch of its retail recruitment program. DNA’s efforts are set on reaching an ambitious goal: reducing empty storefronts to fewer than 10 by Spring 2026.

DNA’s approach goes beyond filling spaces. Through community events, surveys, and partnerships with resident ambassadors, DNA creates an environment where new and established businesses thrive. By utilizing its owned channels to connect with the community and bring visibility to local businesses, DNA ensures downtown remains a welcoming and dynamic hub for residents, workers, and visitors.

Businesses interested in joining the downtown community are encouraged to reach out to DNA and explore the possibilities of this unique, supportive network. As DNA continues to create spaces for growth and collaboration, Downtown Pittsburgh is quickly becoming a vibrant showcase for local innovation and enterprise.
