Shaping the Real Estate Landscape with Gregg Broujos

Written By Delaney Pipon

For over three and a half decades, Gregg Broujos has played a role in shaping the commercial real estate landscape of downtown Pittsburgh. His dedication to the city's urban core traces back to his earliest professional experiences, where internships at his father's law firm specializing in commercial real estate exposed him to the industry.

It was during this period that an encounter with real estate figure Howard Hanna occurred. In 1987, Hanna extended an opportunity that would set Broujos on a path intertwined with the future of downtown Pittsburgh - a path he has remained committed to since.

Today, Broujos serves on the board of the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA), an organization committed to amplifying voices of downtown residents and fostering community. "The DNA does crucial work engaging with the residential population downtown," Broujos notes. "Supporting their mission has been a priority throughout my career."

While the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the positive trajectory downtown had been following, Broujos remains optimistic about the area's ability to rebound and evolve. "Prior to COVID, downtown experienced a renaissance," he reflects. "Moving forward, we need to adapt to shifts in the office market while strengthening residential development and amenities that cultivate a round-the-clock neighborhood."

Broujos cites events like Picklesburgh, DNA street festivals, and the continued expansion of dining and nightlife as catalysts for an active downtown atmosphere beyond business hours. His work with the Buncher Company contributes to this vision through the creation of workforce and attainable housing in the nearby Strip District neighborhood. The proximity allows residents to live near major employment centers downtown while still enjoying the amenities of the Strip.

"Supporting the DNA, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, and Regional Alliance is crucial when opportunities arise to invest in residential projects that strengthen the downtown community," Broujos states.

With a career rooted in downtown Pittsburgh, Broujos remains dedicated to ensuring the area's sustainable growth and vitality.
