8 Downtown Pittsburgh Restaurants That are Open on Mondays

Is your favorite restaurant closed on Mondays? After a long weekend full of serving customers, some businesses close their doors for a day to recuperate. DNA has compiled a list of our favorite Downtown restaurants that open their doors on Mondays to put food on your plate. 

Breakfast & Lunch:

Wiener World Pittsburgh is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and serves American meals at their establishment on Smithfield Street. With a menu full of options, there is surely something that will curb your cravings. Salads, wraps, sandwiches and, of course, hot dogs are served fresh. Still hungry after your hotdog? Grab some fries with extra fixings or some ice cream for dessert. Check out their Facebook page for daily specials.

Mamma Lucia Pizzeria operates everyday except for Sundays. Throughout the work week the restaurant is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and  11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The Monday special is a half meatball hoagie with red sauce and cheese for under $6, and with pizza by the slice, it is a perfect place to grab a meal on your lunch break. Order ahead and grab a breakfast pizza made fresh with egg, cheese and customizable toppings. 

Sree’s Foods opens their doors from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekdays. This local eatery incorporates natural ingredients with the intent to create meals that are healthy and balanced. With vegan as well as non-vegan options on the menu daily, Pittsburghers with dietary restrictions should have no issue finding something to enjoy. All the food is prepared by Vydehi Mekala, better known as Mrs. Sree, who draws inspiration for meals from her family’s culture. 

Apollo Cafe is open on Forbes Avenue from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and serves Mediterranean, American and vegetarian dishes. Whether you are looking for breakfast or lunch, there is plenty to choose from. Daily specials like their cup of soup and half a sandwich for under $8 will give you the strength you need to slay the day. 


Dinner:

Nicky’s Thai Kitchen on Penn Avenue opens their doors daily. The hours of operation vary and the restaurant is closed between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. everyday except for Sunday. On Mondays, the restaurant reopens the doors from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for dinner. Nicky’s Downtown location hosts a happy hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and offers cocktails, beers and wines. The restaurant’s dinner menu gives various options and a vegan and gluten-free menu is available for people with dietary restrictions. Enjoy the nice weather and request to be seated outside or escape the heat indoors.  

Olive Or Twist opens their doors for operation at 3:30 p.m. everyday but Sunday. This restaurant on Sixth Street serves more than just food. Martinis, beer, wine and hand-crafted cocktails are on the menu among many sandwiches, pastas, starters and sides. Join the party from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for happy hour that includes $5 draft beer, $3 off libations and $3 off small and shareable plates. 

Alihan’s Mediterranean Cuisine operates from noon to 9 p.m. on Mondays, and is open everyday except Tuesday. This restaurant features Mediterranean foods inspired by Turkish culture. With vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian options, Alihan’s serves food that anyone can enjoy. The main-course menu features a wide range of dishes including Italian and Middle Eastern inspired plates, seafood, sauteed dishes and kebabs. With a variety of desserts, there is surely something to appease your appetite.  

Bridges and Bourbon serves Pittsburghers daily and is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Mondays. The extensive dinner menu hosts a variety of entrees, starters and sides with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Visit the establishment on Penn Avenue for happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for special prices on cocktails, wines and select appetizers.
