A Different Way of Diamond Shopping at Diamonds by Rothschild

By Olivia Miller

The diamond industry is something in founder Henry Rothschild’s genes. Originally from New Orleans, he opened Diamonds by Rothschild after being exposed to the industry his whole life through his father. Since then, the wholesale and retail shop has grown to include a seasoned team of in-house jewelers, designers, and salespeople and houses one of the area’s largest collections of loose diamonds.

The glittering diamonds at the shop aren’t just beautiful, they’re better for the environment. Members of the Responsible Jewelry Council, every diamond they use is upcycled and recut, which, according to general manager and diamond specialist Becky Halvorson, means “we did not move any earth” to get the diamonds. However, she emphasizes that Diamonds by Rothschild is “not a thrift shop for diamonds.” They pride themselves on offering customers high quality diamonds which have been certified by The Gemological Institute of America. This leaves customers not only with a dazzling piece, but also the ability to “feel good about that beautiful diamond.”

Customer education is a cornerstone at Diamonds by Rothschild. While browsing the display cases, customers have the unique chance to learn about their sustainably sourced diamonds as well as best practices for sensible diamond shopping. They want to equip customers with the tools to not only make a wise final purchase but also to better understand diamond shopping for future purchases.

To see Diamonds by Rothschild’s extensive collection, you can visit their location at 717 Liberty Avenue, suite 203. You can also see their work on social media @DiamondsByRothschild on Instagram and Facebook and @Diamondsbyrothschild on Pinterest.

Overall, the team at Diamonds by Rothschild wants to make sure that jewelry shopping is “no longer a stressful thing, it’s a fun thing.”
