Best Dish We Ate This Week: Little Athens

Last week the DNA editorial staff ventured to Mellon Square Park on a perfectly sunny afternoon for a lunch break full of great food and music. Every Tuesday and Friday from 11:00am - 2:00pm, catering company and food truck Little Athens is there to serve up their famously authentic Greek and Mediterranean inspired specialties.

Accompanied by breathtaking views of the city’s buildings and the delightful sounds of Byron Nash’s music, we dug into our moussaka and lemon chicken with potatoes. The moussaka was absolutely delicious, not only in its balance of bitter, spicy, and salty flavors, but also in its combination of textures from the eggplant, beef, and potatoes done two ways. The lemon chicken and potatoes were refreshingly tangy and well seasoned with a broth that was good enough to drink straight from the container.

While they are known for their Greek offerings, Little Athens also offers a variety of American meals like macaroni and cheese and pepperoni rolls as well as a line of homemade desserts. If you miss them on a Tuesday or Friday afternoon, you can also find them at the farmer’s market in Market Square.
