Downtown Date Night: Partners in Crime

By Layla Joseph

The game of Clue just came to life, and guests at The Dinner Detective are expected to solve the case.

Grab your significant other and travel to the historic Omni William Penn Hotel for a four course dinner and a chance to put your detective skills to use.

According to The Dinner Detective’s website, this three hour experience includes prop guns, lighting blackouts and loud simulated gunshots to allow for a realistic experience.

With professionally-trained performers, the show invites guests to suspend their disbelief and find themselves engulfed in the mystery. Prepare a solid alibi, because anyone can find themselves as a suspect.

The Dinner Detective has been hosting murder mystery dinner shows for nearly two decades: what started in Los Angeles has evolved into a series of shows with over 80 locations across the country.

The adults-only show features a comedic element that enhances the mysterious performance. Actors are hidden among the audience and so is the murderer, leaving it up to guests to draw maps around the clues and find a guilty verdict.

Attendees will have the opportunity to leave as the Top Sleuth or in handcuffs, but not before indulging in a four course meal.

Included with the general admission ticket is the chef’s selection of hors d’oeuvres, house salad, your choice of three entrees and the chef’s selected dessert. Discover who in your party has the best detective skills while cracking the case and a cold one with the cash bar.

Purchase tickets online and join a crowd of suspecting sleuths or book a private event where the crime scene comes to you.

Two general admission tickets are just over $162 after fees and tax but includes service gratuity, dinner, the show and a prize package for the Top Sleuth of the evening. Add on the Suspect Package for $30 more and frame someone in your party for the murder.

Shows are held once or twice a month on Saturday evenings at Omni William Penn Hotel and parking is available at Mellon Square Garage.

Don’t let the case go cold, take your partner-in-crime Downtown and experience an interactive dinner and a show.
