Best Places in The Golden Triangle to Get a Late Night Bite

By Layla Joseph

Whether you are going out for a night on the town or heading home from an eventful evening, these five DNA favorites will fill your stomach after dark:

Genoa Pizza and Bar: Get your Italian cravings fulfilled at Genoa Pizza and Bar on Market Street. This pizza joint is open past midnight to serve customers with homemade Italian recipes with dine-in, carry-out or delivery service. For customers looking for a light bite, enjoy one of many appetizers like the broccoli puffs, crab cake bites and grape leaves. Genoa’s menu holds a variety of dishes, varying from salad and house appetizers to burgers and wraps.

For customers feeding a crowd we recommend grabbing one of the gourmet pizzas but for the single diner, we recommend one of the signature pastas. Enjoy a classic chicken parmesan dinner with provolone cheese melted on fresh chicken and spaghetti smothered with homemade red sauce. Add baklava or a fresh cannoli to bring home and satisfy your sweet tooth later on.

Redbeard’s: Redbeard’s on Sixth Street prides themselves on being a PGH favorite for their lively atmosphere and good eats. Their kitchen stays open until midnight daily making it the perfect place to rally behind the bar and watch your favorite Pittsburgh team play hard while chowing down on some great eats. Stop in and try a dish from the weekly specials, like 75 cent wings on Tuesdays accompanied by $3.50 Miller Light bottles after 4 p.m.

We recommend stopping at Redbeard’s on Wednesday to enjoy the Mac and Cheese special. Enjoy the house-made mac topped with your choice of BBQ pulled pork, blackened chicken or truffle-oil bread crumbs. Redbeard’s invites patrons to wind down on Wednesdays with $4 house wine specials.

City Works: City Works is open until midnight Sunday through Thursday with extended hours Friday and Saturday evening. With seasonal IPAs on tap and 15 televisions, there is never a bad time to dine at City Works. The presentation gives you a taste of the preparation that goes into the American dishes that are loaded with flavor.

We recommend the Duck Nachos: this dish gives you flavor combinations that are sure to lift your spirits. Pulled duck confit lays on a bed of wonton chips and queso fresco, layered with pepperjack cheese, pickled jalapenos, white beans, avocado, red onion and smoked tomatoes, garnished with micro cilantro and lime. Order one for your meal or split it between the table for a shared sensation of unique flavor combinations.

Forbes Tavern: Visiting Forbes Tavern will allow you to experience a friendly environment and filling American food. Sunday through Wednesday the kitchen is open until 11 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday the kitchen stays open past midnight. Catch a late night bite and intercept a couple of drinks while watching the rest of the game or highlights from your favorite sports team.

Stop at Forbes and dive into the late night menu Thursday through Saturday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. We recommend throwing down the Pittsburgher flatbread: chicken, bacon, red onion and cheese, drizzled with ranch and BBQ and topped off with fries.

Cafe Milano: Milano’s on Sixth Street is open after midnight daily, making it the perfect place to grab a bite after the end of a long shift or on your way home from the Convention Center. Whether you are looking for a snack to curb your late-night cravings or a variety of food to share with friends, Cafe Milano has everything from pizza and hoagies to gyros and pasta. Order take out and pick up when your food is hot and ready or get it delivered straight to your door.

For a late night snack we recommend their pepperoni roll, but don’t forget a side of marinara. Make it a meal and grab a cup of soup! Check the website for coupons before ordering and see what deals will help feed your family.
