Bikes, Brunch and Moree At CADENCE+ At The Strip

By Sean Armstrong

What do bikes, bashes and brunch all have in common? They are all offered at CADENCE+ At The Strip.

Located at 2400 Smallman St., according to Chief Operating Officer Jen Katzfey, the venue is meant, “to offer people the opportunity to come together in community for life’s special moments.”

With three floors dedicated to three distinct entities, there is plenty on offer for people with all different kinds of interests.

“We want to be Pittsburgh’s place where community happens.”

Top Floor - Luxury Events

The top of the building is a luxury events space that can host up to 350 people and boasts city views that Katzfey notes, “when the city lights light up, it’s spectacular.”

Even when the city lights are not on, the interior is quite the sight because, ”the theming of that space is very much unique to Pittsburgh.”

Photographs are hung throughout the space that are all related to Pittsburgh’s bridges courtesy of Brad Berkstresser, who puts his own spin on each picture taken. All in all, for those looking at bigger occasions, such as weddings or smaller intimate gatherings, this space may be for you.

PRO BIKE+RUN

On the ground level is PRO BIKE+RUN, a local chain with five total locations in the Pittsburgh region. Bike repair and fittings are offered here. They even have shoe fittings for those interested.

For those dedicated to a specific bike manufacturer, Cannondale and other major bike brands can be found here. Runners can find big names like ASICS or Brooks in stock too.

Perhaps the best part of this establishment are the runs or rides from the store location to favorite city destinations like throughout the strip or along the river. Then, with the physical activity out of the way, runners and bikers alike can enjoy a meal back at CADENCE+.

CADENCE+ Cellars

In the basement is a modern industrial speakeasy. The ceilings are over 20 feet tall, there is an underground tunnel and the chance to glimpse into Pittsburgh’s past with 1860s infrastructure.

This is where a full-service restaurant is hosted. There are 20 beers on tap that rotate through local craft breweries. Wine dinners and tastings are on offer as well. And a menu curated by chefs with a focus on fresh ingredients can be found.

Katzfey jokes when talking about the speakeasy, “what better place to hide a speakeasy bar than in a building with a bike shop.”

With brunch, live music one to two nights a week and everything else already described, it is easy to see why CADENCE+ is “bringing the community together to enjoy a night out”.
