Downtown Date Night: Sea The Sights of Pittsburgh

By Layla Joseph

Relax and enjoy an evening on Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers with Gateway Clipper Fleet’s Friday evenings.

The Sunset Dinner Cruise invites guests on the water for two hours and cruises run through November. Steer into an evening full of music, laughter and food. Check the weather before you leave and dress appropriately for the occasion.

Boarding starts at 5:45 p.m., allowing you and your guest to find your seat and make your plate before the ship sets sail at 6:30 p.m.

Dinner is served buffet style and features two entree options and a variety of accompaniments.

Bring your valid photo ID and enjoy the cash bar and a weekly drink special, or purchase a bottle of wine or bucket of beers when you secure your ticket.

A voyage for two will cost just under $150 but on-board upgrades are available to make the evening an even more elaborate affair.

Surprise your significant other with a table set for two and enhance the experience with a bottle of sparkling white wine and two souvenir flutes or a balloon bouquet if you’re celebrating something special.

Another Friday night option, that runs through October, is the Moonlight Dance Cruise and Tour. Gateway Clipper Fleet invites you to sweep your partner off their feet with a lively atmosphere and DJ playing a variety of hip-hop, rap and other old school hits.

Land tickets for two for just under $85. The Moonlight Dance Cruise sets sail at 11 p.m. and guests start boarding a half hour early. The boat will rock from 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Grab some food at the midnight buffet or a drink from the full-service bar on board. Unlike the Sunset Dinner Cruise, no guests under 21-years-old are invited, allowing adults to drink and mingle as they please.

Whichever you choose, you and your significant others will witness the sights and nightlife that Pittsburgh has to offer from a different perspective.
