Downtown Neighbors Alliance Staff Highlight: Leah Lindley

By Layla Joseph

As Marketing Director, Leah Lindley uses her go-getter personality and marketing skills to build the brand for Pittsburgh DNA.

A Slippery Rock University graduate, Lindley studied Integrated Marketing Communication and has been using her knowledge working at DNA since May 2022, when she joined the team in the marketing and event planning sector.

Working at DNA has brought Lindley many opportunities, like being a model in the Sabika 2022 winter catalog and the 2023 fall fashion presentation.

She enjoys working at DNA because of the environment, sharing ideas with her co-workers and exploring different avenues by working on a wide variety of things such as web design, graphic design, public relations, advertising, branding and so much more.

Lindley manages all communication for DNA to ensure that the messages reflect the brand. Whether it is marketing campaigns, website management or taking interns under her wing, consistency is critical, and her ability to be detail-oriented and display confidence in her skills allow her work to be successful.

The Pittsburgh native says her favorite thing about the Steel City is its branding.

“As a marketing professional, I like how the city has a consistent brand. Everything is black and gold. You always know Pittsburgh from the bridges or even the sports teams. It’s so recognizable,” she said.

Lindley said DNA acts as a voice, especially for the residents and small businesses Downtown.

She pointed out that DNA’s Resident Ambassador program allows the residential buildings Downtown to have an ambassador who serves as a middleman, advocating for the neighborhood’s needs and bringing important issues to DNA’s attention.

“If you live in a big city, I think it’s easy to think you don’t have a voice,” she said. “Pittsburgh DNA is a good touch point for residents and small business owners that need their message amplified.”

Outside of DNA, Lindley has a brand of her own. Her life outside of work revolves around her friends and family, but she also enjoys getting outside, going on walks, thrift shopping and admiring new growth in her collection of house plants.

Just like her house plants, Lindley's motivation is growth. She said she always tries to "do better" and improve her personal and professional life. Her ability to perfect skills through various projects at DNA has allowed her to grow, and Lindley said she's grateful for the experience since it pointed her down a path she wants to continue traveling.
