End of Summer Arts: The Cultural Trust's Gallery Crawl is Set For September 22nd
By Clayton Smith:
Here in the Burgh, we create things. We build and improve; we’re a city built on a tradition of hard work and dedication to our crafts. Thus, it is no surprise to those who call these hills home that our artists follow these traditions. This weekend, we all can marvel at their work for free.
Friday, between 5:30 and 10 p.m., the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust will host its Gallery Crawl with 16 gallery and event spaces for free public viewings of various art forms.
There will be visual art from multiple renowned local artists like Aimee Manion and Jesse T Best, dance and theater from Akudzwe Elsie Chiwa, comedy performances at the Arcade Comedy Theater, steel pan drums, and a Silent Disco after-party with DJs. These are only a few of many great events for all age levels.
Beyond just the indoor spaces, there are ten public art installations throughout the Cultural District for people to enjoy and experience while exploring the area. Food trucks will park in the Backyard (8th Street Parklet) and on Liberty Avenue for people to enjoy. There is a complete map of the Gallery Crawl online and a list of all events with times for shows and gallery spaces.
Start your weekend with friends, food, community and great art in Pittsburgh's Cultural District. Enjoy the final days of summer by wandering through art exhibitions representing our town and our community's beautiful diversity. Check the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust website for times, locations, and updates.
