Highrises Gallery: Classic Skyscrapers Exhibit

The collection features high-resolution bird's-eye views of over two dozen architecturally important skyscrapers from coast to coast, revealing intricate details and exquisite craftsmanship that can't be seen at sidewalk level. Each image by digital artist Chris Hytha is paired with the building's fascinating background story, written by Pittsburgh author and antique skyscraper expert Mark Houser.

"Highrises: The Art & History of Classic Skyscrapers" is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the Benedum-Trees Gallery, 223 Fourth Avenue.

The Highrises Collection has been shown in Chicago, New York, Detroit, and Philadelphia to rave reviews. Hytha and Houser have traveled across the country to discover the best landmark tall buildings. Their book, Highrises Art Deco, was fully funded on Kickstarter in less than 24 hours and is now in its second printing.

The Benedum-Trees Gallery has a selection of Highrises books and artist-signed skyscraper prints on sale for 20% off. They make excellent gifts for architecture fans and admirers of these urban landmarks of a century ago that give such distinguished character to America's cities.

Also for skyscraper fans: More than 2,000 people have gone on Mark Houser's walking and elevator-riding downtown tour, Antique Skyscrapers Rooftops and Views. Tickets are available now for the next tours, which are May 10-11, 2025, and will visit the tops of four historic landmark Pittsburgh towers.
