OnPar Now: Creating a Level Playing Field

By Layla Joseph

Located in the Strip District is a locally-owned premier indoor golfing space that aims to help Pittsburghers have fun and embrace the game of golf.

OnPar Now was founded in 2021, making its home in the newly renovated Terminal in the heart of the Strip District, and has since been inviting Pittsburghers to practice their game with validating parking for easy access.

With state-of-the-art equipment, you can get meaningful feedback on your game or take a swing at various courses from around the world.

Jan Receski, owner of OnPar Now, started this business after 30 years in the corporate world. Now, she uses her knowledge of golf and industry to empower and inspire people who want to play.

“Golf is a huge component in business and personal relationships. It’s a healthy, ageless, fun activity; every right reason to play,” she exclaimed.

Walk in or schedule a visit to the facility which is home to Pittsburgh’s only indoor 80-square-foot sandtrap, TrackMan simulators and Receski’s favorite feature, the PuttView putting green.

On Terminal Tuesdays, first time visitors at OnPar Now will get a free 30-minute session on the high-tech putting green.

PuttView allows you to customize your putts by adjusting settings on a computer to move the floor beneath you, generating various slopes and facilitating authentic practice.

“Your short game is where you shave strokes, so being able to practice various lies is huge,” Receski said.

Four TrackMan bays allow guests to take a serious swing on over 250 courses or have fun playing target games while monitoring impact and launch data and pinpointing exactly where the ball would land on a traditional course.

If you don’t have your own equipment or don’t want to haul your golf bag after work, OnPar Now has you covered with equipment to use at no extra cost.

“We have the equipment for no charge, and we validate parking at the Terminal for up to two hours,” she said. “I wanted to take the barriers of entry off the table and help people get into the game.”

OnPar Now also hosts beginner clinics for adults and juniors. In these classes, players will learn everything from etiquette and terminology to successfully hitting the ball.

These clinics are once a week for four weeks and will consist of twelve players and professional help to instill healthy habits into your game. In addition to clinics, OnPar Now also holds private lessons and club fittings to instill confidence in every shot.

Receski believes in working hard but playing hard, too, which is why the space also welcomes  private events and has a BYOB policy. The upstairs mezzanine is bright and open with seating and a big screen TV for corporate presentations, meetings or the perfect place to showcase the star of the evening.
