Ushering in a New Era of Streetwear at New Age Attire

By Olivia Miller

The future of fashion is dependent on small boutiques and independent clothing brands. Their specially curated collections of creatively designed pieces rival anything at a department store. Pittsburgh’s newest boutique, New Age Attire, is bringing the newest age of fashion to the city.

Owner Jillian Evanko was inspired by her lifelong passion for retail and belief that “if you look good, you feel a little better” to start the brand after graduating college in 2019. Just recently, in December 2022, she opened her first brick and mortar location in the Diamond Building. She chose downtown for the location because she wanted to add a trendy store geared toward teenagers and tourists to the mix of downtown boutiques.

The shop offers a wide selection of streetwear-inspired casual wear for men and women, as well as an extensive unisex collection with each piece emboldened with one of New Age Attire’s signature logos. The main concept behind the designs is to “provide versatility for others.” Evanko emphasizes that all of her items from hoodies to dresses can be dressed up or down for a variety of occasions.

One of the most unique aspects of New Age Attire, according to Evanko, is “we like to get input from our customer base.” Through interactive stories on their Facebook and Instagram pages, they allow customers to express their opinions on matters such as choosing the brand’s primary logo design. However, social media is hardly where the customer experience ends. When customers walk through the doors of the shop, they can expect to have a relaxed shopping experience and even have some snacks and drinks.

New Age Attire is open at their 100 Fifth Avenue location from 12pm - 7pm Monday through Saturday. You can browse their selection or order online at newageattire.org or call them at (412) 444-8536 for more information. You can also follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter at @newageattire.

Evanko hopes that in the coming years New Age Attire will become a “Pittsburgh staple” that is recognized not only for its unique items but also for its ability to build community.
