Wear Your Love for Pittsburgh on Your Sleeve With The City’s New Merch Line

By Olivia Miller

From the classic black-and-gold Steelers jerseys to the hats bearing the Pirates distinctly bold “P” logo, it is fair to say that Pittsburgh has produced some iconic and trendy apparel. However, don’t think that the city’s sports teams are the only contenders in the Pittsburgh merchandise arena. An unlikely designer recently launched a line that will let Yinzers share their appreciation for the city in new ways.

The City of Pittsburgh’s “Printed in Pittsburgh” line offers an array of apparel and home goods showcasing iconic Pittsburgh symbols in collaboration with local screen printing company CommonWealth Press.

For urban dwellers, consider purchasing a t-shirt or hoodie emblazoned with the City’s black and gold flag with the city’s moniker running down the sleeve. For those into trendy graphics, there are t-shirts and hats with the City’s characteristic arms surrounded by a ring of stars available for sale. For the avid hiker, there are t-shirts with all of the Citiparks on them. If apparel isn’t your thing, there are also mugs, pint glasses, stickers, and pennants available for sale.

This project is evolving and is composed of four phases with phase one being launched last week. When moving into phase two, the City will work to identify additional City logos and images that can be used to create designs. Phase three will consist of working with local designers to create items reflective of the future of the city. Phase four is not yet outlined but the City encourages the community that they will “figure that out together.”

To show off your Pittsburgh pride, you can shop the “Printed in Pittsburgh” collection on their website here. You can also find the items at the CommonWealth Press’s location on Mount Washington or any of love, Pittsburgh’s locations in The Golden Triangle, the Strip District, or Mount Washington.
