Mocktails of Downtown

Written by: Kristin Muir

In years past, the world of non-alcoholic options, or “mocktails,” at bars or restaurants was slim to none. Those looking for these non-alcoholic options were often limited to soda, ginger beer, and sugar water. However, in recent years, there’s been a push for more non-alcoholic options in the bar scene, providing a larger, more vibrant selection of beverages.

As the trend of mocktails grows around the world, we’re beginning to see this trend unfold in our Downtown neighborhood. We compiled a list of some of the best mocktails Downtown Pittsburgh has to offer – ranging from non-alcoholic versions of American classics to unique zero-proof drinks that will give you quite the night out without the need for alcohol.

The Commoner458 Strawberry Way, Downtown

From their extensive food to their vibrant drink menu, The Commoner puts a modern twist on American classics. They feature a wide array of non-alcoholic beer and, of course, cocktails. Indulge in the Fussion, made with non-alcoholic bourbon, maple syrup orange oleo, and hickory smoke, or try their NA-Groni.

 Kaya2000 Smallman St, Pittsburgh

Featuring a menu inspired by the Caribbean Islands, South America, and the Pacific, Kaya promises to use only the freshest herbs and spices – a promise that holds true with their zero-proof spin on classic, tropical cocktails. Their Pina No-Lada and the Blood Orange Hibiscus Cosmo-Not are must-tries when visiting.

Known for their sophisticated and picture-worthy beverages, their mocktails fall nothing short of this standard! Their warm Car Hop and the refreshing Basil Punch are served with the same complexity and care as their alcoholic counterparts.

City Works2 PPG Place, Downtown

With their expansive drink menu and from-scratch American food, it makes sense that their non-alcoholic options are impressive as well. Indulge in a range of zero-proof drinks, such as their Mellow Mule or Mindful Mocha.

Offering delicious Italian food and another cozy atmosphere, this is another must-visit restaurant in the heart of downtown. Their mocktail menu features both simplistic options and complex twists on Mediterranean flavors, such as their Pineapples in Positano.

Space Bar22 Market St, Market Square

This bar goes beyond your typical space-themed bar with aliens and colored lights – it offers a sophisticated, immersive experience. Order the non-alcoholic versions of their popular drinks, such as the Boba Fruit, and Berry Nova. Just make sure you say non-alcoholic when ordering!
