Rivers Club is a private club and lifestyle amenity in Downtown Pittsburgh, located at One Oxford Center. Established in 1983, Rivers Club was the first private club in Pittsburgh to offer memberships to women and people of color. The private club is proud to call themselves a “welcoming and diverse hub for social and business activities in downtown Pittsburgh.”

Rivers Club is a part of Invited Clubs, the largest owner and operator of private clubs in the United States. Invited Clubs has nearly 200 city, golf, and country clubs throughout the nation. Regional sister clubs of Rivers include Diamond Run in Sewickley and Treesdale in Gibsonia.

I met with two members of Rivers Club’s excellent team–Rosie Fisher, General Manager, and Jordan Woyt, Membership Director–to learn more about the Club’s vibrant community offerings. Rivers Club’s mission is to “change the narrative of what a private club feels like,” says Fisher, who started as a fitness director at Rivers Club.

Rivers Club offers three membership options: Club Executive, Club Fitness, and Social. Club Executive offers exclusive amenities like waived court and fitness guest fees, a personalized locker with laundry service, and access to all facilities and social events at the Club. Fitness provides access to fitness facilities, workspaces, and dining and social events. Finally, Social offers all the same amazing working, dining, and event spaces, minus fitness facilities. They offer guest passes and household memberships that include partners and dependents. As well, you are eligible for a discounted membership as a college student, Downtown resident, “young executive,” or worker at One Oxford Center. As of today, Rivers Club has around 1000 primary members and 2200 total members, signifying their broad community impact.

Rivers Club’s fitness floor offers a swimming pool, basketball court, indoor track, and a 55,000 square foot facility featuring a wide variety of cardio and strength training equipment. Other fitness services and spaces include squash courts, a yoga studio, three private studio rooms, personal training programs, group fitness classes, massage and assisted stretching services, men’s and women’s locker rooms, and more.

Rivers Club has a rotating lunch, dinner, and drinks menu crafted by an Executive Chef who “places great emphasis on imaginative menus and offers eclectic cuisine.” You can enjoy a delicious bite at The Hearth or the Rivers Edge Lounge. Additionally, Rivers Club offers colorful co-working spaces, business services, open areas, and meeting and conference rooms. Rivers Club hosts weddings, dinners, meetings, and other corporate and social events. They offer unique experiences, bringing your vision to life. Finally, Rivers Club has a member events calendar spotlighting charity, educational, and social events such as Dining in the Dark, Chef’s Cooking Classes, and Rivers Club Unplugged. Not a member? On Wednesday nights, River Club hosts public dinners for a taste of membership. Additionally, schedule a Membership Tour to get a closer look at the Club’s one-of-a-kind amenities.

Fisher states, “It’s hard to describe our club in one word or sentence.” Indeed, Rivers Club’s impact stretches beyond your average private club. Rivers Club asks What do our members want? and makes it a reality. Rivers Club uses the flexibility and creativity of their team and facilities to craft unique member events. Fisher describes the Club’s mission as two-fold: to focus on individualized member engagement and building something extraordinary, right here in Downtown Pittsburgh. Fisher states, “Nothing else is like this,” and that Rivers Club offers “unique hospitality in Pittsburgh.” They craft a diverse community, a vibrant atmosphere, and memorable experiences.

Fisher avows, “We want Downtown residents to know that Rivers Club is a lifestyle amenity like nowhere else in the city where you can feel special.”

Downtown Neighbors Alliance is set to collaborate with the Rivers Club on our Downtown Welcome Kits program. Stay tuned for more information.
